A joint research team (Professors Hwang Moon-hyun, Kang Yeon-ju, Jeon Kyung-kyu, Kim Nam-woong, and Ko Joo-pil) from the Department of Sports and Health at Incheon National University of Arts and Sports will cooperate with the University of Münster Motion Science Institute, a world-class European research institute, to expand joint research to prevent falls in the elderly.
The joint research team of Incheon National University was selected by the Korea-Germany R&D Network Program of the Korea Research Foundation (Responsible Researcher: Professor Kang Yeon-ju) and visited the Motion Science Institute of Munster University in Germany (Director: Dr. Heiko Wagner & Dr. Rosemary Dubbedam) for eight days from Feb. 17-26. During this visit, a joint seminar was held to establish a research network for "Development of a Universal Video-Based Predictive Model for the Prevention of Fall Accidents in the Elderly."
"It was an opportunity to establish a practical research plan by conducting in-depth discussions to build a Korea-Germany R&D network," said Kang Yeon-joo, a senior researcher. "Through this joint research network, we will continue to pursue research to develop AI-based fall accident prediction models for the elderly."
In September 2025, a German research team will visit Incheon National University to hold a joint seminar for continuous research cooperation. The research team identifies internal and external factors that increase the risk of falling in the elderly through general-purpose image analysis that records the environment related to indoor and outdoor movement, and based on this, the final goal is to develop an AI-based fall prediction model.
