In celebration of the midterm exam season, the Student Union of Incheon National University has planned and carried out a variety of welfare programs to support students fatigued from their studies—initiatives that have received an enthusiastic response from the student body.
On April 16, the Student Union hosted the “Midterm Snack Giveaway with the University President and Student Union” event, distributing Subway sandwiches and drinks to students as a gesture of encouragement during exams. The event was held in a warm and welcoming atmosphere, with active participation from President Jong-Tae Park, Director of Student Affairs Yong-Ho Park, Student Union President Kwang-Deok Han, Vice President Ji-Min Lee, and other student leaders.
A total of 500 students received snacks, which proved especially popular among those who often skip meals due to their busy exam schedules. Kim In-gi (Class of 2020, Business Administration) shared, “It’s hard to find time to eat during exams, so I was really grateful that the university provided snacks. Thanks to this thoughtful gesture, I was able to focus on studying with a full stomach.”
Alongside the snack giveaway, the newly launched “1,000-Won Dinner” program—planned and implemented by the Student Union this semester—has also generated significant attention. As an extension of the ongoing “1,000-Won Breakfast” initiative, the dinner program was piloted from Monday, April 14 to Friday, April 18, providing high-quality evening meals to 250 students per day for just 1,000 KRW. On the first day alone, meals sold out within 30 minutes, reflecting the overwhelming student interest.
Vice President Ji-Min Lee commented, “We launched the ‘1,000-Won Dinner’ as a new welfare initiative during the exam period, and the response has far exceeded our expectations. It has been especially meaningful to meet and support students directly through both the snack giveaway and this dinner program.” She added, “We will continue to reflect students' voices and prepare more diverse welfare programs moving forward.”
These welfare initiatives are being positively received for going beyond one-off events, showing the Student Union’s genuine effort to meet students' real-life needs with care and consideration. Incheon National University (President Jong-Tae Park) and the Student Union (President Kwang-Deok Han) plan to continue working together to implement tangible welfare policies that students can truly experience and benefit from.
